SUBIC Bay Freeport: Singaporian firm Keppel Philippines announced it would expand its facilities in Subic and Batangas due to high demand for ship repairs.

Reports said that Keppel is in advance stages of its proposal to expand its operation in both location with the Board of Investments.

The company is more on ship repair rather that building.,officials say that market for new ship are declining while demand on repair, maintenance and operation for existing ships is growing.

SUBIC BAY Freeport: Electricity provider Subic EnerZone (SEZ) Corp. renewed its commitment to sponsor the maintenance of all ambulances of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

SEZ, represented by it senior vice president and COO Dante Pollescas, and SBMA Administrator Roberto Garcia signed the other day a Memorandum of Agreement to formalize the adoption.

230 families relocated after demolition in Subic Zambales: video

Some 230 families who were former setters of Sitio Agusuhin which is now being occupied by Hanjin Shipyard was demolished after Pamana Inc. claimed the 14 hectare land they were occupying in Barangay Cawad Subic, Zambales for almost 5 years now.

The local government of Subic headed by Mayor Jay Khonghun said that they have already found a new site for the residents and that ground works have also started in preparation for the residents transfer.

SUBIC Bay Freeport: Dubbed as the energizer, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Chairman and Administrator Roberto Garcia bared in his first State of the Freeport Address his 5-year plan which will aims to revive the agencies thrust to make Subic generate more employment and investments.

Garcia presented several plans of the agency such as making it the top tourism capital of the Philippines by way of increasing sports tourism, bidding as a cruise ship destination and enhancing eco-tourism activities inside the Freeport.

Subic locators cry foul over new BIR order

SUBIC Bay Freeport: Locators inside this Freeport, headed by Subic Bay Freeport Chamber of Commerce (SBFCC) President Danny Piano, protested the new Bureau of Revenue (BIR) order implementing taxes on oil products here.

This after the BIR issued last week Revenue Regulation-2-2012 that would tax oil companies even those inside the Freeport zones starting next week.

The BIR however noted that it would be refunded if buyers can show proof that the oil products were consumed inside the Freeport.

Congress to probe missing cars in Subic

SUBIC Bay Freeport: The House of Representative approved House resolution 1664 which sets to probe the disappearance of some 1,800 imported second-hand vehicles which was supposed to be in storage in different areas inside Subic Bay Freeport.

Filed by Quezon City 2nd District Representative Winnie Castelo, the resolution paves the way for the Ways and Means committee to formally probe the issue.
