Second US nuclear sub cancels port visit in Subic

SUBIC BAY Freeport: Another US submarine which was supposed to port here in Subic has suddenly cancelled its schedule.

Sources said that USS Tucon, a nuclear powered attack submarine by the United States was supposed to dock in Subic’s port on the 19th but suddenly cancelled.

The cancelation came 2 days after USS North Carolina was spotted docked at Alava pier here and caught the attention of local and foreign media after www.subictimes.com posted its picture Tuesday.

SUBIC Bay Freeport: The Lighthouse Marina Resort will be hosting the first ever Columbia Recyclable Regatta here in Subic Bay. OLONGAPO City: Senior citizen in the city can now watch movies for free on selected days at Times Squares Cinemas located inside Subic Bay Freeport.

Olongapo City Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. said Time Square Cinemas was the first to act in response to his letter asking theater operators for free movie viewing for senior citizens.

He explained that the city passed city resolution No. 116, series of 2011, requesting all cenema operators to grant complimentary admission for Olongapo City senior citizens.

OLONGAPO City: The local government of Olongapo reminded residents to start preparing for the upcoming rainy season.

“Habang matindi ang sikat ng araw, ayusin natin ang mga bubong at parte ng bahay na maaaring masira sa panahon ng bagyo at itaas ang mga gamit at papeles na importante upang hindi abutin ng baha,” Olongapo mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. said.

SUBIC BAY Freeport: The first inter-high school alumni basketball league kicked off with Columban College Dolphins defeating St. James Cavaliers 83-76 in a grueling inaugural match that lasted for 2 hours at the Subic Bay Basketball gym.

Illegal loggers nabbed in Olongapo

OLONGAPO City: The local government of Olongapo together with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) apprehended 2 suspected illegal loggers in Barangay Sta. Rita this city.

CENRO identified the suspects as John Bolbar, 22 and Wermer Migollas, 44.

Local authorities seized from the two suspect’s two jungle bolos, a chainsaw and 15 pieces of cut Kupang logs.
