Ebdane proclaimed winner in Zambales special elections

IBA, Zambales: Former Zambales provincial administrator Jun Omar C. Ebdane was proclaimed winner of the recent special election by the Commission on Elections for the vacant representative for the Second Legislative District of Zambales.

According to the official Comelec tally, Ebdane, who ran under the Partido ng Magsasaka at Manggagawa (PMM), won in a slim margin of 5,922 votes over closest rival Cheryl Deloso-Montalla of the Liberal Party (LP).

Resort owners attempt ‘drown-free’ Zambales

ZAMBALES: The organization of resort owners aimed to make the coastal waters here the safest destination for local and foreign beach goers.

Dubbed as “Drown-Free Zambales”, the project aimed to boost the trainings of the province’s lifeguards to prioritize aquatic safety. The program was initiated by the Zambales Resort Owners Association.

OLONGAPO City: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 3 reminded employers to implement the recent adjustment in the basic wage and cost of living allowance (COLA) which took effect starting this month.

Region 3 Dir. Leopoldo De Jesus, Chairman of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board Region 3 said that the four peso (P4.00) COLA issued under Wage Order No. RBIII-15 shall be integrated in the Basic Pay effective start of year 2012.

IBA, Zambales: Zambales Provincial Administrator Jun Omar C. Ebdane officially quit his post today and expressed his intention to join the special election for the Zambales Second District representative next month.

The young Ebdane, who is the youngest son of Gov. Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr., made the announcement during an assembly of government officials and employees at the Capitol after receiving a declaration of support from town mayors from the municipalities that make up the Second District.

COMELEC to implement gun ban in Zambales for special election

IBA, Zambales: The Commission on Election announced that the enforcement of gun ban will be implemented in Olongapo City and 13 other towns in Zambales province in time for the start of the special elections in the second district.

The special election was requested by the provincial government to replace congressman Antonio Diaz who died last year.

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga: The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) reported yesterday that the month-old red tide plague in the waters of Bataan has already spread to Zambales.

“The waters of Bataan and Zambales are positive for paralytic shellfish poison beyond the regulatory limit,” BFAR said in an advisory.
