Gapo install artificial reef for marine program

OLONGAPO City: The Olongapo City government together with the City Agriculture Office (CAO) installed an artificial reef in the deep sea of Brgy. Barretto, Olongapo, as part of its marine conservation program.

Designed by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the artificial reef aims to provide permanent shelter and breeding area for aquatic organism and other marine life.

OLONGAPO City: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 3 reminded employers to implement the recent adjustment in the basic wage and cost of living allowance (COLA) which took effect starting this month.

Region 3 Dir. Leopoldo De Jesus, Chairman of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board Region 3 said that the four peso (P4.00) COLA issued under Wage Order No. RBIII-15 shall be integrated in the Basic Pay effective start of year 2012.

Congresswoman Mitos Magsaysay and former Zambales Vice governor Anne Gordon are heading for a face-off for the mayoralty post in the 2013 local elections.

Gapo gets P25M for good housekeeping

The local government of Olongapo City recently received a check worth P25M from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for winning the 2011 Seal of Good Housekeeping.

The amount according to City Director Arceli San Jose came from the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) which is given to deserving LGU’s to fun various development projects.

Angeles city also received the same award and monetary price.

Red tide spreads to Zambales bay

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga: The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) reported yesterday that the month-old red tide plague in the waters of Bataan has already spread to Zambales.

“The waters of Bataan and Zambales are positive for paralytic shellfish poison beyond the regulatory limit,” BFAR said in an advisory.

Gapo council scrap electric discount for senior citizens

OLONGAPO City: The Olongapo City council disapproved recently a proposed city resolution giving senior citizens a 5% discount on their electric bill.

In a recent session the majority block composed of 7 councilors voted to scrap a resolution filed by two councilors.

DTI warns businessmen inside calamity area

The Department of Trade and Industry warned businessmen taking advantage of consumers in provinces under state of calamity not to overprice their product especially basic commodities or face consequence for their action.

DTI Central Luzon Information Officer Wilfredo Carbonell said that prices of basic good in 6 provinces and one city have been put on price freeze following the declaration of stat of calamity due to typhoon Pedring and Quiel ravage in the said areas.
