Red tide spreads to Zambales bay

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga: The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) reported yesterday that the month-old red tide plague in the waters of Bataan has already spread to Zambales.

“The waters of Bataan and Zambales are positive for paralytic shellfish poison beyond the regulatory limit,” BFAR said in an advisory.

BFAR said red tide has been confirmed in Masinloc Bay in Zambales as well as in the waters of Balanga City and the towns of Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, [...]

Subic freeport plans extension in Bataan

SUBIC Bay Freeport: The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the local government of Hermosa in Bataan, are firming up plans to include some 200 hectare of land as an extension of the free port.

In a recent meeting between Hermosa Mayor Danilo Malana informed SBMA officials that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has already passed a resolution authorizing certain areas in Hermosa Bataan to be declared as additional secure areas under the Subic Bay Special Economic Zone under Proclamation No. 532.

ORION, Bataan: Some 13,772 farmers from this province will benefit from a project jointly initiated by the department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agrarian reform (DAR) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

A 3,970 hectare agricultural and forestry area in this municipality was also chosen to pioneer a local agro-enterprise in the province.

MARIVELES, Bataan —- The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with L&T International, one of the largest exporters in the country.

BALANGA City, Bataan: A former provincial accountant allegedly involve in a P250 million housing scam took his own life Monday morning in Pilar Bataan.

Police identified the victim as Numeruano Medina, 57 the concurrent administrator of the Bataan Transport Mall (BTM).

Investigation said that Medina shot himself with a 45 caliber pistol in the mouth at around 5am Sunday inside his house in Villa Juana Subd., Barangay Rizal, Pilar Bataan.
