Olongapo seniors can now watch movies for free

OLONGAPO City: Senior citizen in the city can now watch movies for free on selected days at Times Squares Cinemas located inside Subic Bay Freeport.

Olongapo City Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. said Time Square Cinemas was the first to act in response to his letter asking theater operators for free movie viewing for senior citizens.

He explained that the city passed city resolution No. 116, series of 2011, requesting all cenema operators to grant complimentary admission for Olongapo City senior citizens.

SUBIC BAY Freeport: This former military base where the best American soldiers were trained to win a war is now officially the home of Century Tuna 5i50 Triathlon Philippines, a distance competition where some of the world’s best triathletes are expected to compete.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman Roberto Garcia and Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) president and CEO Fred Uytengsu signed a memorandum of agreement making the Subic Bay Freeport the venue for the 5i50 Triathlon this year until 2014.

Olongapo hostage drama ends after 12 hours

OLONGAPO City: After more than 12 hours of hostage negotiation, police authorities here stormed a house at around 6am and arrested a lone hostage taker and successfully rescued a 15-year-old hostage in Barangay West Bajac Bajac.

The hostage taking started around 4pm Tuesday when the suspect identified as a certain Francisco Mamolo entered the compound in #43 Arthur St. and after a few minutes declared the hostage.

OLONGAPO City: Resort owners in the City assured the local government of Olongapo in a forum called by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) that they will take necessary precaution for the safety of tourists and beach goer in anticipation of long holiday break next week.

The city together with the DRRMO and local police reactivated OPLAN (Summer Vacation) SUMVAC 2012.

SAN FELIPE, Zambales: The Provincial Government of Zambales announced that some P60-million worth of agricultural projects had been approved by the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Subic locators cry foul over new BIR order

SUBIC Bay Freeport: Locators inside this Freeport, headed by Subic Bay Freeport Chamber of Commerce (SBFCC) President Danny Piano, protested the new Bureau of Revenue (BIR) order implementing taxes on oil products here.

This after the BIR issued last week Revenue Regulation-2-2012 that would tax oil companies even those inside the Freeport zones starting next week.

The BIR however noted that it would be refunded if buyers can show proof that the oil products were consumed inside the Freeport.
