Olongapo to host 1st ICT Congress
OLONGAPO City: Thousands of students from this city and the province of Zambales, and members of the information technology industry are expected to attend the first ICT Congress here at the end of the month.
Close to 2,000 high school students from almost all public schools in Olongapo and Zambales already confirmed their attendance for the event organized by Comteq Computer and Business College, PTT Philippines Foundation.
“We are always striving to get students nearer to their goal of a bright future,” said Comteq Computer and Business College administrator Ansbert Joaquin.
TESDA will introduce its new program, the Dual Training System, to the congress participants.
IT industry trailblazer SBMA director Benjamin Antonio III, who is an expert in Enterprise Risk Strategy, is among the key speakers of the event dubbed as “Bridging the Digital Divide.”
Quinton Ellick, the head of a BPO company based in the Subic Bay Freeport, will provide students with an overview of opportunities in the call center industry.
Bernard Lee, the president of a Hong Kong-based software and web development firm will share his vision and original perspective on what career path high school graduates could be looking at in the new IT economy.
For his part, PTT Philippines Foundation President, Danny Alabado said: “We are looking forward to having our speakers share their knowledge and expertise to students in Olongapo and Zambales who want to carve a niche for themselves in the IT Industry. By so doing, we believe that these students will be better able to chart their futures.”
Joaquin said that partnering with international firms is part of what makes COMTEQ unique as an educational institution.
“We are always on the lookout for our students’ interests, always striving to create opportunities for them in terms of learning, or applying what we have taught them in our classrooms.”
