19 hurt in bus accident in Zambales


Nineteen passengers on board a bus was hurt in the province of Zambales after it slammed into a mountainside Friday afternoon, police reported Friday.

Police report said that a bus with plate number CXG-873 operated by the Zambales Operators and Drivers Cooperative Alliance (ZAMODCA) bound for Olongapo city slammed into a mountainside hurting 19 of its passenger around 1pm Friday.

The accident happened along the Olongapo-Bugallon Highway in Barangay San Lorenzo.

According to reports the bus brakes failed forcing the driver identified as Samuel Ecaldre to crash the bus into a mountain side instead of a ravine nearby.

Police said that among the injured were the driver’s son which is also the conductor of the bus.

Police added that the injured were rushed to the nearby Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The driver went missing after the incident.
