BoC hunts luxury cars from Subic

203 blue plate cars including several luxury and sports cars are now the subject of a massive “car hunt” by government agency.

Among these vehicles according to the Bureau of Customs (BoC) are various models of 37 Mercedes Benz, 26 BMW, eight units of Porsche, three Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo units, and one Ferrari, among others.

BoC commissioner Napoleon Morales said that he has tapped the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the PNP Highway Patrol Group to locate and apprehend the said motor vehicles.

The said luxury vehicles are tax-exempt vehicles that enter into the Port of Subic and can only be used inside Subic however they can be used outside Subic Freeport for official use but must be returned in the Freeport after 15 days.

“There is a need to locate these motor vehicles for the collection of the proper duties and taxes and for the prosecution of customs personnel and smugglers involved in the illegal entry of these motor,” Morales said.
