Former Public Works Secretary HErmogenes Ebdane and incumbent 1st district congresswoman will be pushing for the construction of a road that would connect this town to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx).
That is if they both win this coming May 2010 election.
The road connection according to Magsaysay, who is seeking for re election and Ebdane, who is seeking the gubernatorial post in Zambales will further bring development in the province.
“This road will revolutionize the pace of development in Zambales,” Ebdane said, pointing out that the expressway has made the Subic Bay Freeport and the nearby city of Olongapo more accessible to tourists, traders and investors.
He added the proposed Castillejos-SCTEx connection will most likely branch out from the Floridablanca segment in Pampanga, and will be about 40 kilometers long.
“In a little more than 30 minutes, tourists could access Castillejos from SCTEx and, from here, could also visit other places in Zambales,” Ebdane said.
Ebdane added that the proposed SCTEx extension would also boost some big-ticket tourism development projects being planned by foreign firms near the Hanjin shipyard.
“This would mean more jobs, more livelihood opportunities for residents, as well as more income for the Zambales community,” Ebdane added.
This was revealed by both Magsaysay and Ebdane during a consultation meeting between political leaders of Castillejos.
“We need not only better roads, but also drainage systems that work, more and better school buildings, and multi-purpose halls. Castillejos, and the rest of Zambales, deserve better,” said former town vice-mayor Jose Angelo Dominguez.
“We are now banking on Ebdane, as well as Congresswoman Magsaysay, to spearhead development projects here because we have been left behind in the last three years,” said Bernard Tiong, a leader from the barangay of Sta. Maria.
Ebdane further explained that “For the common folks, especially the farmers, laborers and fishermen, they need good roads to get to work, to bring their products to the market, and for their children to be able to go to school. In other words, good public infrastructure allows even the poor people to improve their lives.”
Congresswoman Magsaysay has had years already to develop such plans now its only that an election is pending she decides to act? Why should she be re-elected when government officials are confessing that under her control “Zambales has been left behind”.
Given she has already failed how could we trust her to come through now?

The project will push through if EBDANE and MAGSAYSAY win. If EBDANE loses, it wouldnt happen because DELOSO is not allies with MAGSAYSAY. It would only happen if EBDANE wins aslo. Noting that MAGSAYSAY is a sure win in her district. EBDANE + MAGSAYSAY = Progress!
