BoC, LTO, PASG-TFS on the hunt for high end cars from Subic

The Bureau of Customs will be blacklisting some 200 high end cars and sport utility vehicles which were allegedly discovered missing in a warehouse inside Subic Bay Freeport.

BoC recently asked the help of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in its efforts to recover the what they said was missing vehicles.

In an interview with Presidential Anti Smuggling Group-Task Force Subic Chief of Staff PSSupt. Manuel Obrera he said that his team is currently conducting an inventory of vehicles assigned to locators inside Subic Bay Freeport.

“Their is this one locator inside Subic that up now has yet to account 20 units of vehicle assigned to them,” Obrera said.

He explained that they have no knowledge that their were 200 high end cars missing inside the Freeport.

“We have been conducting the inventory since last year, but no such report has reached us to date” Obrera told www.subictimes.com.

“I hope they can give us a list so we can help them find the unit if there is really any,” he added.

“There is a need to find these motor vehicles not only to collect duties and taxes but also for the administrative and criminal prosecution of any and all persons involved,” Customs Commissioner Napoleon said in a report.

He added that Customs Task Force “Oplan Blue Plates” headed by his senior assistant Alex Arcilla has been activated to run after the vehicles since Subic District Collector Marietta Zamoranos issued a number of warrants of seizure and detention (WSD) against them.

They are believed to be moving around Metro Manila or in nearby provinces using spurious LTO certificates or used Import Permits issued by SBMA for authorities to import them from abroad.
