City council cited by DILG


It seems like the local government of Olongapo has the habit of winning awards, this after the city council bagged the search for Outstanding Sanggunian for the highly urbanized cities in Region 3.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) OIC Dir. Dennis Villasenor said that the city scored 98.5 besting out Angles City to bagged the award for the regional level and elevated to the national awards.

DILG judged the city by its effectiveness in its legislative agenda, the effectiveness of the legislative tracking system, availability of legislative documents and the efficiency of the performance of the sanguinian as a whole and the quality of the office set-up.

Meanwhile, two members of Olongapo City Council also received separate awards. SK Federation President Cheenee Hoya bagged the national outstanding sanguniang Kabataan Award while Councilor Edwin Piano is one of the finalist for the ongoing search for the outstanding councilor of the Philippines.

The national legislative award, which started in 2006, seeks to cite official recognition to deserving Sangguniang Panglunsod and Sangguniang Bayan that excel in legislating laws that contribute to the attainment of socio-economic and environmental management outcome, specifically highlighting innovations and excellence in the legislative process.  with reports from www.subicbaynews.blogspot.com
