City Hall release 09 accomplishment report


The local government of Olongapo has release its 2009 accomplishment report which focused on infrastructure, livelihood, health, housing, education and environmental projects.

In a report the city government has spent more than P74 million in infrastructures alone.

The amount which totaled to P74,744,613.74 was largely focused on the repair and construction of public buildings (46%), reconstruction and improvements of roads (36%), renovation of public school buildings (4%), repairs and setting up of new drainage and flood control projects (1) while another 11% of the total amount went to undetermined infra projects of the city.

Among the project listed in the 2009 accomplishment report are as follow;

  • Concreting of Footbridge at Block 24, Purok 5D
  • Construction of Center for Youth in Conflict with the Law Building, Phase IV, Mayumi St., Brgy. Sta Rita
  • Concreting and Construction of Drainage System at Mercury St., Brgy. Sta Rita
  • Rehabilitation of City Hall Building, Brgy. West Bajac-Bajac

Construction of two pedestrian overpass is also in the works in front of the Olongapo City Elementary School (OCES) in Rizal Avenue and another in front of the Olongapo City National High School (OCNHS) also located along Rizal Avenue.

Health

Six new health center were established in Barangay New Cabalan, Gordon Heights, West Bajac-Bajac, Barretto, New Kababae and Kalaklan.

Improvements at James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital have also been implemented from 2007 to 2009.

JLGMH now has a brand new Ct-Scan Machine with 3D image display function capability and since it has been set-up, the hospital has performed 3,810 examinations.

Additional equipment like  EGD machine, anesthesia machine, operating table, dermatone, laparoscopic TV camera & video system, UES-40 electrocautery machine, electrohydraulic lithotripsy, choledochofiberscope, video telescope, hand surgery set, basic cardio vascular set, femur bone instrument set, basic forearm instrument set, orthopedic instrument set, urelithotomy set, uterine evacuation set, caesarian section set, abdominal gynecological operation set, dilatation and curettage set, major rectal instrument set, skin graft set, radical mastectomy set, thyroidectomy set, gastro intestinal set, abdominal perineal resections set, colpotomy set, epiotomy or laceration repair set, patient monitor, incubators and autoclave machines were also procured for the development of JLGMH.

Through these equipments, the Operating Room of JLGMH has performed 10,900 surgical procedures and 51% of these were charity or service cases, the local government has also prioritized the computerization of JLGMH financial systems.

Housing & Education Program

130 units of affordable housing units in Cabalan was built during 2009 many of which has already been turned over to the first batch of recipients.

The city is currently supporting some 422 scholars in college, 241 in high school and 265 elementary students.

Eva Imingan, A teacher in Nellie Brown was also cited as one of the 2009 Ten Most Outstanding Teacher in the country by the Metrobank Foundation for exemplary contribution in education.

Environment

The CR3 (Compost, Reduce, Recycle and Re-use) Program, successfully decreased the city’s garbage by an average of 1 ton per day. In 2007-2008 the daily average of garbage in the city totaled to 100 tons a day, in 2009 however it was reduce to 90 tons a day according to the report.

The city has also implemented a conservation program for endangered species of animal.

Among the wildlife species that can be found in the city according to the report are; the Philippine Monkey, Monitor Lizard, Philippine turtle, Wild pigs, Philippine Scops Owl, Philippine Cobra, Philippine Deer, Serpent Eagle, Philippine Reticulated Phyton, Ordinary Parakeet, Dove, Maya, Brahminy Kite, Egret and Sparrows.

The city is also conducting coastal marine resources management thru the proper care of mangrove, establishment of marine sanctuaries, tagging and releasing of marine turtles and coastal clean-ups.

Peace and order also improve slightly with an decrease of 3.48 crime incidents in 2009.

In 2007 the daily average of crime in the city was estimated at 10.78% but decreased by 7.3% during 2009.

Crime solution efficiency by the local police also increase by .22% from 97% in 2007 to 97.22 in 2009.

    comment ko lang po, wag sana magalit si Mayor. Puro po maintenance works ang infra ninyo. pero ok na rin kahit it took the city almost three years to do them.
